Does my child need a pediatrician referral to enroll in services at The Lark Center?
No, you are not required to obtain a pediatrician referral to enroll in services at The Lark Center. However, some insurance plans require a pediatrician referral in order to be reimbursable. As a private pay clinic, we ask you to provide a parent or caregiver referral. We recommend calling your insurance company to find out what they require if you are planning to pursue insurance reimbursement. Please contact us with any questions about insurance reimbursement (contact@TheLarkCenter.com).
-
Does The Lark Center take insurance?
We do not directly bill insurance. We can provide you with a monthly "superbill" that contains all of the necessary information in order for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
We recommend calling your insurance company to find out exactly how much they reimburse for your desired service (i.e. OT, speech, mental health).
Clients are responsible for payment in full of their child's therapy. We can assist you with the process of pursuing reimbursement from your insurance company.
Please reach out with any questions about insurance (contact@TheLarkCenter.com).

Why is The Lark Center a private-pay therapy center?
At The Lark Center, we have made the conscious choice to be private pay (out of network) in order to protect the integrity of our services. We believe that the parent, child, and clinician are the best judges of what the child needs and not the insurance company. By avoiding contracts with insurance companies, we maintain control over the type, frequency, duration, and quality of your child’s therapeutic services. We have the flexibility to adaptively change with your child’s (and family’s) changing needs, and we are not limited to specific, predetermined goals or treatments. Private pay allows for the greatest possible therapeutic outcomes. We understand that the cost of therapy may be a barrier for some families. That is why we work with every family to help them access discounts, grants, or scholarships wherever possible. We value the quality of care above all else, but do not want costs to prevent a child from accessing much needed therapeutic services.
-
Does The Lark Center provide Good Faith Estimates?
A new law has recently gone into effect, requiring private pay therapy centers like ours to send a good faith estimate. This is a document which provides an estimate of costs based on the recommended services for your child. We will be sending these out as part of our intake process for new clients. There is nothing you need to do upon receipt of this document. It is for informational purposes, so that you can make informed financial decisions regarding your child's services.

Typically, group therapy sessions run for 1 hour, once per week, and individual therapy sessions run for 45 minutes once per week. -
What types of support does The Lark Center provide parents and other caregivers?
Parent education and collaboration is an extremely important ingredient in fostering the growth and development of each child. Parents and caregivers are often invited in to sessions to see the activities in therapy. Progress reports are provided every 3 months, and our clinicians are available for consult as needed via email or phone call.
-
Does The Lark Center provide Early Intervention (EI) services?
While we do treat babies as young as newborns, we are not a contracted Early Intervention provider through the state of Massachusetts. EI service providers have been stretched extremely thin during the pandemic, and The Lark Center can help to supplement. Please reach out to us for a free consultation to discuss your child's individual needs (contact@TheLarkCenter.com).
-
My child "graduated" from EI, now what?
After aging out of EI, a child will typically be referred to the public schools for evaluation. It can be difficult for some children to qualify for school-based services if it is not clear how their disability/delay will affect academic performance. This leaves many parents wondering how to get support for their child. We run therapeutic play groups in the mornings that foster self-regulation, social and language skills, self-help skills, fine- and gross-motor skills, and cognitive skills in a small group, play-based setting. This can be a nice way to transition from EI to preschool. Please contact us for a free consultation to discuss your child's individual needs (contact@TheLarkCenter.com).
-
Do I need to stay during my child's appointment at The Lark Center?
We ask that parents remain within a 10 minute walk of our center while their child is engaged in therapy. We also ask that you come back a few minutes early in order to touch base with the clinician about the session. Those few minutes of communication can be essential to continue practicing the skills learned at home and for your child to continue making progress in therapy.
