About Social Groups at LARK

Our groups run in 9-12 week series in order to support consistency, build trusting relationships, and promote progress. Groups at The Lark Center are interest-based and change each series slightly as we accommodate the needs and interests of those that are interested. We offer:

  • Occupational Therapy-based groups which may focus on body awareness, safety awareness, sensory regulation, interoception, fine- and gross-motor skills, activities of daily living, strategies to increase independence, and more.

  • Speech Therapy-based groups which may focus on functional language, social pragmatics, navigating social settings, forming and maintaining friendships, non-verbal communication, self-advocacy, executive function, and more.

  • Physical Therapy-based groups which may focus on team sports, health and fitness, moving for joy, adaptations and accommodations for increased participation and safety in gross motor activities, increased comfort and confidence in group physical activities, and more.

  • Mental Health-based groups which may focus on emotional regulation, team-work, problem solving, building and navigating healthy relationships, increasing positive self-image and confidence, coping with anxiety, depression, and loneliness, healing from trauma, and more.

  • All groups have specific broad goals established by the facilitator AND each participant has their own specific and individualized goals to be worked on in the context of the peer group. You will get updates on progress towards goals each week.
